A half-vampire power trip dripping with gore, rough edges, and pure, guilty pleasure.

POCG VERDICT
A messy, bloody delight that makes you feel like an unstoppable killing machine, if you can forgive the rough spots.
BloodRayne is a deeply flawed but exhilarating action game. The combat is a blast, the gore is refreshingly honest, and the Jigglytech Engine is... memorable. Just don't pay full price.
About This Game

BloodRayne is a third-person action game set in the 1930s, blending gunplay, brutal melee combat, and gothic horror. Developed by Terminal Reality and published by Majesco, it was originally released for Windows in 2002, later ported to consoles. Players assume the role of Rayne, a dhampir, half-human, half-vampire, recruited by the secretive Brimstone Society to eliminate supernatural threats across the globe. Armed with twin blades, an array of firearms, and a harpoon, Rayne can dismember enemies, feed on their blood to regain health, and enter a devastating Blood Rage mode. The game spans swamps, castles, and Nazi strongholds, featuring destructible environments, a mech sequence, and a heavily gothic aesthetic. While the story borrows from comic-book vampire lore and the Blade films, it provides enough motivation to drive the action forward. BloodRayne is notable for its over-the-top gore, advanced bump-mapping, and the controversial 'Jigglytech' character animation engine. Single-player only.
