Command & Conquer: Generals is a real-time strategy game developed by EA Pacific and published by Electronic Arts. Released in February 2003 for Windows, it is the seventh installment in the Command & Conquer series and the first to use a fully 3D engine. The game moves the series to a near-future setting, featuring three factions: the United States, China, and the Global Liberation Army (GLA), each with unique units, structures, and abilities. Gameplay follows the traditional C&C formula of base building, resource gathering, and army management, but introduces a Generals' Experience system that lets players choose temporary bonuses before missions. The single-player campaign spans 21 missions across the three factions. Multiplayer supports up to eight players over LAN or online. The game was praised for its groundbreaking graphics and audio, but faced criticism for its AI, story, and technical issues. An expansion pack, Zero Hour, was released later in 2003.
