Compromised
Compromised is an independent twin-stick arcade shooter released on Microsoft's Xbox Live Indie Games marketplace, a storefront that during the late 2000s and early 2010s gave small and hobbyist developers a route to publish directly on the Xbox 360. In the game, players pilot a craft through waves of enemies in fast, score-driven combat typical of the arena and shoot-'em-up styles popular on the service, dodging hostile fire while returning it across increasingly busy screens. Like many titles on the platform, it was built and sold at a very low price point, aimed at players hunting for inexpensive, pick-up-and-play action among the marketplace's large, eclectic catalogue. Xbox Live Indie Games was notable for its openness, hosting thousands of experimental, niche and budget projects that ranged from polished gems to rough curiosities, and Compromised sits within that ecosystem as one of its many small action releases. POCG covered it as part of an 'Indie Corner' feature spotlighting noteworthy independent games on the service. With the closure of the Xbox Live Indie Games marketplace, titles like Compromised are no longer available for purchase, making them artefacts of a distinctive, now-vanished chapter in independent console publishing. Such titles survive today mainly through archived listings and the memories of the small community that frequented the service.
