About This Game

Medal of Honor: Warfighter is a 2012 first-person shooter developed by Danger Close Games and published by Electronic Arts for Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A sequel to the 2010 reboot of the long-running Medal of Honor series, it shifts the franchise firmly into the modern era, following Tier 1 special-operations soldiers across a globe-spanning campaign inspired by real conflicts and threats, with a personal subplot about the strain such service places on soldiers' families. Built on DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, the game delivered a visually polished, cinematic single-player experience and a competitive multiplayer mode emphasising real-world special-forces units from around the world and a 'Fireteam' buddy system. EA promoted it heavily, including a cross-promotional deal granting Battlefield 4 beta access with pre-orders. However, Warfighter was met with poor reviews and disappointing sales: critics criticised a disjointed, forgettable campaign, technical bugs and a sense that it added little to a crowded military-shooter market dominated by Call of Duty and Battlefield. The commercial and critical failure effectively ended the rebooted Medal of Honor series, as EA shelved the franchise afterward. It is remembered as a stumble for one of the genre's pioneering brands during the peak of the modern-military-shooter era.
