Suikoden II
Suikoden II is a role-playing game developed and published by Konami for the PlayStation. It is the second main entry in the Suikoden series. The story follows a young warrior who inherits the Bright Shield Rune and is swept into a war between the City-States of Jowston and the Kingdom of Highland. Alongside his childhood friend Jowy Atreides, who bears the Black Sword Rune, the hero must unite the 108 Stars of Destiny to build an army and resist Highland's conquest. The narrative is known for its political intrigue, emotional character arcs, and the return of many characters from the first Suikoden, including the previous hero Tir McDohl. Gameplay features turn-based six-character battles, one-on-one duels, and large-scale army clashes that incorporate terrain and unit types. A headquarters castle expands as recruits are gathered, opening minigames such as cooking, fishing, and rock climbing. Suikoden II was praised for its deep storytelling, rich cast, and refined battle mechanics, and is often regarded as one of the finest RPGs on the PlayStation.
