Star Trek: Elite Force 2
Star Trek: Elite Force 2 is a first-person shooter developed by Ritual Entertainment and published by Activision, released in 2003 for Microsoft Windows. It is the sequel to Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force, continuing the adventures of the Hazard Team, an elite security detachment aboard the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E. The game uses the id Tech 3 (Quake III Arena) engine, heavily modified to support higher-resolution textures, detailed environments, and enhanced special effects. Players assume the role of Lieutenant Alexander Munro, leading a squad through a variety of missions that span from Starfleet Academy to Borg cubes and alien worlds. The single-player campaign is significantly longer than its predecessor, offering around 20–30 hours of gameplay across numerous missions with diverse objectives including investigation, defense, and starship combat sequences. In addition to traditional FPS gameplay, Elite Force 2 features mini-games such as rerouting power systems, modulating waveforms, and controlling the Enterprise's phasers, along with a tricorder that provides real-time 3D scanning. The multiplayer component includes holomatch modes with maps and weapons from the single-player campaign, though server populations were historically low. As an officially licensed Star Trek title, it features authentic sound effects, voice acting, and an LCARS-themed interface, integrating deeply with the franchise's aesthetic and lore.
