Star Trek: Hidden Evil is a 1999 action-adventure game developed by Presto Studios and published by Activision for Windows. Set after the events of the film Star Trek: Insurrection, players control Lieutenant Sovok, a half-Vulcan, half-human Starfleet officer assigned to assist Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Commander Data on the Ba'ku homeworld. The Son'a colony has uncovered ancient technology, and soon an archaeological dig turns into a confrontation with Romulan and Son'a forces. The game blends third-person exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat across nine levels, featuring fixed camera angles and auto-aiming phaser combat. The story unfolds through voice-acted cutscenes and in-game dialogue with familiar characters from the film. The game's 3D backdrops present detailed environments ranging from lush planetary surfaces to the corridors of the Enterprise-E. The CD includes extra previews, desktop themes, and internet software. Hidden Evil received mixed reviews, praised for its authentic Star Trek atmosphere and audio, but criticized for its simplistic puzzles, awkward controls, and brevity.
