Shinobi: Art of Vengeance Hits Switch 2 on September 24 with a Physical Edition
Lizardcube's hand-drawn Shinobi revival is dated for Switch 2 on September 24 in digital and physical editions, starting at $29.99.
Sega and Lizardcube have dated the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Shinobi: Art of Vengeance for September 24, 2026, and pre-orders are live through Nintendo and other retailers. It launches in both digital and physical editions, starting at $29.99.
I care about this one for a simple reason: it is going on a cartridge. Lizardcube already gave Joe Musashi the hand-drawn treatment the Shinobi name has deserved since the arcade days, the same brush that made Streets of Rage 4 sing. A boxed Switch 2 copy means there is something to put on a shelf and something to own outright, which is exactly the kind of release I want to keep flagging while physical media is still an option on current hardware.
The Deluxe Edition, sold digitally and physically, bundles the SEGA Villains Stage DLC, a bonus stage that throws three guest bosses at you: Dr. Eggman, Goro Majima, and Death Adder. That is a nice wink for anyone who has been following Sega long enough to recognize all three. The game first launched in 2025 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch, and PC, so the Switch 2 cut is a late port rather than a debut, but it is the version a Sega collector will want under glass.
No word yet on whether the physical edition ships the full game on the cart or leans on a download. That is the detail worth chasing before anyone buys.
