Michael Ovitz and Richard Wolpert invest in GameSpy Industries gets a June 1999 update. Michael Ovitz and Richard Wolpert, partner in charge of Internet and technology ventures for The Yucaipa Companies, Thursday announced an equity investment in GameSpy Industries, creator of innovative software GameSpy and MP3Spy, as well as a network of more than 30 Internet sites including PlanetQuake.com and FilePlanet.com.

The announcement further confirms Ovitz’ and Yucaipa’s commitment to the Internet and helps expand GameSpy Industries’ rapidly growing multiplayer gaming and streaming music technologies and services. It is another reminder that the games business is moving just as fast as the games themselves right now.
