Prince of Persia 3D is a 1999 action-adventure game developed by Red Orb and published by Mindscape. It is the third installment in the Prince of Persia series and the first to use 3D graphics. The game follows the Prince as he attempts to rescue his beloved princess from an evil vizier, navigating intricately designed levels filled with traps, puzzles, and sword-wielding guards.

The game was a significant technological leap, featuring high-resolution textures, detailed environments, and fluid motion-captured animations. It adopted a third-person perspective and controls reminiscent of Tomb Raider, emphasizing acrobatic platforming and combat. Despite its visual achievements, the game was criticized for its punishing difficulty, clunky controls, and reliance on instant-death traps. Loading times were notoriously long, and compatibility issues with Voodoo2 SLI setups required patching.

Upon release, Prince of Persia 3D received mixed reviews. While the graphics and soundtrack were widely praised, many reviewers and players felt the transition to 3D compromised the tight, precise gameplay that defined the series. It has since been regarded as an ambitious but flawed entry, overshadowed by the later Sands of Time reboot which successfully modernized the franchise.
