Spyro: A Realm Beyond
Spyro: A Realm Beyond is a platform adventure game developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision, announced at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2026 and scheduled for Spring 2027. It is the first original mainline Spyro game in nearly two decades, following the Spyro Reignited Trilogy (2018), which remade the original PlayStation trilogy but did not introduce new content.
The game follows Spyro after he finds himself stranded in an unfamiliar realm, where an invading force called the Scavs threatens the inhabitants. The story is described by Toys for Bob as tonally more mature than previous entries, with a new antagonist raising the stakes and pushing the character into new emotional territory. Tom Kenny returns to voice Spyro, a role he has held since the original PlayStation games.
The central design addition is true dragon flight. In the classic Insomniac-developed trilogy, Spyro could glide from jumps and fly in separate timed minigame sequences, but never freely. A Realm Beyond builds its world around unrestricted flight as a core ability, allowing players to take to the air at any point and chain dives, climbs, and tight turns through the environment. Toys for Bob describe this as the question that drove the game's design from the start.
Spyro's character design continues from the Reignited Trilogy rather than the Skylanders branch of the franchise, with subtle changes to suggest growth, most visibly an expanded wingspan to support the new flight mechanics.
The game is available on Xbox Series X|S, PC via Xbox and Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. It is included with Xbox Game Pass.
